Atlas to ASP.NET AJAX Upgrade Issue

I apologize in advance if this question if directed at the wrong forum and for being somewhat of a novice with ASP.NET and AJAX.

I was attempting to upgrade fromMicrosoft ASP.NET codename "Atlas"toMicrosoft ASP.NET AJAX, but perhaps made a significant mistake in not realizing that I should uninstall "Atlas" first (or maybe that is not what is causing my problem...as I said, I am a novice). Nonetheless, the install failed and now I cannot seem to uninstall "Atlas", but rather I keep getting the following error:

InstallUtilLib.dll: Unknown Error

Of course, now if I try to install ASP.NET AJAX I receive a message indicating that a previous version is already installed. Ireally need to either get the old version ("Atlas") up and running again or get the new version (ASP.NET AJAX) up and running. Any advice will bevery much appreciated!

Its probably to much to hope, that you still have the old Atlas install file? If you do then run it again and do a repair install, then see if it will let you unintall. If not try deleting all the associalted Atlas files installed under Program Files\Microsoft ASP.NET & then do a registry search & deleted for "Atlas" & "Program Files\Microsoft ASP.NET".

Actually, I do still have the Atlas install file and I tried to run it to do the repair or a remove, but either way it still gives me the same error regarding the InstallUtilLib.dll. I removed everything I could find related to Atlas, both in the directory structure of Program Files and within the registry, but I still cannot get past this problem. I think I must be missing something, because even after removing all registry entries and directories, etc. the machine still thinks Atlas is installed (when I try to run the installer it only offers repair or remove...neither of which work).
